Boxborough Police Recognize Good Samaritan for Turning in Found Property
BOXBOROUGH — Chief Warren Ryder is pleased to share that a Boxborough resident was recently rewarded for a good deed she performed in November 2018.
On Nov. 18, 2018, a resident found an envelope on Codman Hill Road in Boxborough which contained $5,000 in cash. The resident turned the cash in to the Boxborough Police station.
Boxborough Police made efforts to locate the owner of the cash when it was found, but were unable to. The department secured the cash for the past year, during which time it was never claimed. In accordance with Massachusetts law, since the money had not been claimed in the past year, it was recently turned over to the resident who found it last November.
“This resident is a great example of why it pays to be honest and do the right thing when you find something that isn’t yours,” Chief Ryder said. “We always hope we can find the owner of found property, but it was nice to see this resident rewarded for their good deed and honesty.”
