Bedford, N.H. Police Arrest Woman Following String of Recent Motor Vehicle Break-Ins
Woman Arrested Allegedly Member of Felony Lane Gang
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department has charged a woman following a series of recent motor vehicle break-ins and identity theft cases in town.
Several incidents took place in Bedford in October and the subsequent investigations resulted in the arrest of TINA CANNON, AGE 47, OF NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
CANNON was charged with:
- Identity Fraud
- Posing as Another Person
- Criminal Mischief
- Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer
CANNON was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 5 by Bedford Police, in Keene, New Hampshire. She was arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Hillsborough County Superior Court North in Manchester, and was released on personal recognizance.
On Monday, Oct. 14, a vehicle was broken into in the parking lot of Orangetheory Fitness on South River Road. A purse with two credit cards inside was stolen, and one of the cards was later used at two different Lowe’s, in Woburn, Massachusetts and in Salem, New Hampshire.
Three other incidents took place on Saturday, Oct. 12, starting with multiple vehicle break-ins on Camp Allen Road. Three vehicles had their windows broken and purses were taken from each of the vehicles.
Later that day, officers responded to a theft from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Bedford Mall, where a window was smashed and numerous bottles of wine were taken.
Hours later, Bedford Police officers responded to the River Road Tavern, 193 South River Road, where another vehicle window was smashed and a purse was taken.
Through the subsequent investigations, and with assistance from the Keene Police Department, Bedford officers were able to link CANNON to the thefts.
CANNON is allegedly a member of the Felony Lane Gang, a group of individuals who operate across the country allegedly breaking into cars to steal purses. The gang members use the IDs from the purses they steal to cash checks and engage in other identity theft activities.
The Felony Lane Gang is said to be based out of Florida, with arrests having been made last month in states as far away as Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia and Wisconsin.
“These are well organized criminals involved in a nationwide theft operation, and making this arrest required the cooperation from multiple departments,” Chief Bryfonski said. “This investigation took place over several months, and I would like to thank several local businesses for providing security footage that helped us link the suspect to these crimes.”
The incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information about similar vehicle break-ins or identity theft incidents is asked to contact the Bedford Police Department at 603-472-5113.
These are allegations. Are suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
