Littleton Police and Fire Departments Respond to School Bus Crash
LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew Pinard, Fire Chief Scott Wodzinski and Superintendent Kelly Clenchy report that the Littleton Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash involving a Littleton Public Schools bus this morning.
Just before 7 a.m. today, Littleton Police and Fire were dispatched following a report of a crash on Great Road in the area of Harvest Lane involving a school bus carrying middle and high school students.
Upon arrival, first responders determined that the crash was minor, however the bus driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries. A student who complained of shoulder pain was picked up and taken home by a parent. The remaining students were uninjured and continued on to school after a second bus arrived to continue along the route.
Russell Street School Principal Cheryl Temple responded to the scene as well, and remained with the students on board until they could be transferred to the second bus.
“I’m grateful for the quick response of our police, firefighters and Principal Temple, who ensured that our students and staff were kept safe during this incident,” Superintendent Clenchy said.
A preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that the passenger side of the bus was clipped by a pickup truck pulling out of a driveway. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained on scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Littleton Police Department.
