Easton Fire Department to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Newly-Renovated Station 2

EASTON — Chief Kevin Partridge wishes to invite the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand re-opening of Easton Fire Department’s Station 2 next month.

When:

The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, with the ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. and an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where:

Easton Fire Department Station 2, 87 Depot St.

Who:

Several local and state officials will be speaking at the event. Local developer Douglas A. King, who funded the renovation project, will be speaking as well.

What:

The project broke ground on May 6 and is expected to be completely finished by the first week in December.

The projected included a complete renovation of the existing building, while adding a second floor addition to the firehouse that includes modern bunk rooms, a new locker room and male and female showers.

“I have been very pleased with every step of the renovation and construction process,” Chief Partridge said. “Once Station 2 is officially re-opened, our firefighters will have the benefits of a safe and modern station with state-of-the-art amenities.”

Station 2 was closed while the project was ongoing, with Engine 12 and the firefighters that operate out of Station 2 being temporarily relocated to Station 3.

“Just like the project itself, the temporary relocation of Station 2 went very smoothly and there was absolutely no disruption to service during construction,” Chief Partridge said.

The project was funded as part of an agreement with the town regarding the Queset Smart Growth Overlay District that was approved at Town Meeting in 2008.

Chief Partridge wishes to thank the Town of Easton Department of Public Works for all the site work they did during the renovations and King for funding the project.

In addition to the open house, Chief Partridge will also be presenting a special commemorative plaque to mark the re-opening of Station 2, and will be honoring a group of 25 firefighters with service award ribbons for their service to the Easton Fire Department.
