SALEM — Deputy Chief Joel Dolan reports that the Salem Police Department arrested an area woman after she was found to be driving a stolen vehicle while impaired.

CINDY CASE, 54, OF CHESTER, was arrested and charged with:

  • Reckless Conduct

  • DUI – Impairment

  • Receiving Stolen Property

  • Disobeying an Officer

  • Reckless Operation

  • Driving After Revocation/Suspension

On Monday, Nov. 18 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Salem Police identified a possible stolen vehicle, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, traveling northbound on Route 28. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in Salem after confirming it was stolen, but the operator refused to pull over and continued northbound on Route 28 at approximately 30 mph while crossing the double yellow line and entering the opposite lane of travel several times.

In Derry, the vehicle slowed to 20 mph and crashed into a utility pole before finally coming to a stop. The pole was minimally damaged.

After an initial investigation, police found the operator, later identified as CASE, unconscious behind the wheel. Once first responders removed her from the vehicle, she was treated by EMTs on scene.

CASE was held overnight at Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood and will be arraigned in the Rockingham County Superior Court in Brentwood today at 1 p.m.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
