Application Deadline Extended for Goodwins Mills Fire Rescue’s Chief Vacancy
LYMAN — Goodwins Mills Fire-Rescue is actively seeking applicants for its vacant chief’s position, and has extended the deadline to apply through the end of the month.
Applications for the full-time position are available at the Goodwins Mills fire station, 481 Goodwins Mills Road, Lyman, or online here. The application deadline is now Nov. 30 at 5 p.m.
The ideal chief will, at minimum, hold a current EMT license, Firefighter II certification, a valid driver’s license, completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course, a high school diploma and at least 12 years of experience in the fire service, including five in a leadership or management position. Experience leading a combination fire department is highly desirable, as are a Fire Officer II or Maine Certified Fire Officer I and NIMS/ICS 400 certifications.
Selected applicants may be invited to participate in a reading comprehension test, a physical agility test (physician’s clearance required) and participate in an interview process. Prior to any job offer a criminal background check, driver’s license check, sex offender registry check, work history review and a credit check may be conducted.
Goodwins Mills Fire Rescue serves the communities of Lyman and Dayton, which have a combined year-round population of 6,400 and a summer population of up to 10,000. The department covers 59 square miles and responds to more than 800 calls per year using nine apparatus. The station is staffed 24/7 with two firefighter/EMTs, and the department is comprised of a combination of full-time, per diem and call firefighters.
The chief’s position is salaried based on experience and includes health, dental and life insurance benefits, plus a 457b retirement plan with a 4% employer match, accrued time off, uniform allowance and 11 paid holidays.
