East Bridgewater Hit-and-Run Suspect Issued Court Summons
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Scott Allen reports that a woman was issued a summons to appear in court following a hit-and-run incident in East Bridgewater earlier this week involving two juveniles and two horses.
East Bridgewater Police are charging ANDREA L. FITZGERALD-RUMSEY, AGE 44, of WHITMAN with:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Personal Injury
At approximately noon Thursday, Nov. 14, East Bridgewater Police were notified of a traffic stop made by Massachusetts State Police and the Halifax Police Department. A State Police trooper noticed a white 2010 Ford Escape with a broken side mirror driving in the area of 98 Holmes St. in Halifax. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in East Bridgewater.
FITZGERALD-RUMSEY was placed under arrest by Halifax Police for driving with a suspended license. Through the subsequent investigation, it was determined that she was the driver involved in the East Bridgewater hit-and-run.
FITZGERALD-RUMSEY will be issued a summons to appear in Brockton District Court to be arraigned at a later date.
At approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, East Bridgewater Police responded to a call for an incident involving a motor vehicle and a horse and rider at 341 Belmont St.
Two juveniles were riding two horses on Belmont Street when one horse and its rider were side-swiped by FITZGERALD-RUMSEY’S vehicle. The passenger’s side mirror struck the right front shoulder of the horse and the rider’s leg.
FITZGERALD-RUMSEY allegedly stopped and looked at the damage to her vehicle before driving away.
While there were no injuries reported at the scene, the juvenile victim was later taken to an area hospital with a knee injury.
Chief Allen would like to thank the State Police and Halifax Police Department for their assistance in this case.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
