Acton Police Arrest and Charge Man with Cutting Another Man with Broken Beer Bottle Shard
ACTON — Chief Richard Burrows reports that the Acton Police Department has arrested and charged a man with assaulting two people and cutting one of them with a shard of glass from a broken beer bottle Friday night, Nov. 8.
HAROLD JONATHAN HUNTER, AGE 20, OF ACTON is being charged with two counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Beer Bottle).
HUNTER is currently being held on $500 bail and is expected to be arraigned at Concord District Court on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. Friday, Acton Police responded to the area of 5300 Avalon Drive for a report of an altercation.
Upon arrival, officers located a man and woman, who were inside of one of the apartments in the building, who were suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
Inside the apartment there were signs of an altercation, including broken wine bottles, tossed furniture and blood throughout the apartment.
Through the subsequent investigation, officers determined that HUNTER was the aggressor in the altercation and had fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
An on-scene investigation determined that HUNTER allegedly threw a beer bottle at the woman, causing it to break. HUNTER then got into a physical altercation with the male victim and picked up a shard of glass from the broken beer bottle and cut the man.
Both victims were taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital and were later discharged.
Officers arrested HUNTER while he returned to his home around 2:40 a.m. Saturday without further incident.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
