ROCHESTER — Superintendent Kyle Repucci is pleased to announce that Rochester Middle School will honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during its 10th annual Veterans Day Celebration.

WHO:

  • Rochester student performers
  • RMS teacher and Army veteran Megann Woodman
  • Local veterans
  • Rochester Middle School students
  • Spaulding High School Junior Air Force ROTC
  • Piscatiqua Rangers Fife and Drum Corps

WHERE:

Rochester Middle School

WHEN:

Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m.

WHAT:

Rochester Middle School students and staff will honor those who have served with the 10th annual celebration of veterans in the community.

This year, Rochester Middle School special education teacher and Army veteran Megann Woodman will serve as the honored speaker. She will discuss her service as a reserve officer in the 399th Field Hospital, with a focus on joining the military in a post-9/11 world. Woodman was a middle school student herself on 9/11, and she’ll recount how the impact of that day set her on a path to military service.

“Each year, this celebration is a chance for our students to learn about the values of service and sacrifice and the living proof of their importance that’s embodied by our nation’s veterans,” Principal Adam Houghton said. “We want our students to have a deeper understanding of the importance of this unique holiday, as well as a stronger sense of the impact of service on the lives of veterans — and I can’t imagine a more meaningful speaker for them to hear from than Ms. Woodman.”

The event will also include participation and performances from numerous RMS and Spaulding High School students, including the eighth grade band, seventh and eighth grade chorus, the Spaulding High Junior Air Force ROTC and the RMS Video Club, which will show its two part film, “Who is a Veteran?”
