Beverly Regional Airport’s Control Tower Receives Facility of the Year Award
BEVERLY — Beverly Regional Airport’s Midwest Air Traffic Control Contract Tower was recently named the 2018 Facility of the Year by Midwest Air Traffic Control (ATC) Service, Inc.
The award was presented to Air Traffic Manager Wes Rosen on Oct. 1 in Kansas City during the annual Air Traffic Managers conference.
“Since I began my position here at Beverly Regional, I have been impressed by the phenomenal job the Midwest Air Traffic Control Contract Tower staff have done,” said Airport Manager Gloria Bouillon. “The Traffic Manager and Control Tower staff are thorough, highly professional and share a wealth of knowledge and experience. We’re thrilled to see them recognized for their hard work.”
The honor recognizes Beverly Regional Airport for its control tower’s exemplary service to the local aviation community, as well as the control tower’s swift, efficient response to an incident in September 2018 where a 17-year-old student pilot’s plane malfunctioned, causing her to seek an emergency landing at the airport. The student was able to land without injury thanks to support from the control tower as they waited for her aviation instructor to arrive in the tower to help the student perform an emergency landing.
“My staff and I were very honored to receive this award from our company, Midwest ATC Service Inc.,” Rosen said. “In part, it was based on our record of safety with over 1,600,000 error-free operations since 1997, the many pilot assistance awards we have received, our commitment to customer service, our outstanding record of working with the Airport Authority, and our involvement in the community.”
