King Philip Regional High School Paints the School Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

WRENTHAM — King Philip Regional School District Superintendent Paul Zinni is pleased to share that King Philip Regional High School recently took part in recognizing National Breast Cancer Awareness Month through a Paint the School Pink event.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, KP Cares, the high school’s community service club, organized its annual Paint the School Pink event where students decorate the school in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

King Philip’s student groups, clubs and sports teams joined KP Cares’ efforts to decorate the school. Each group decorated a designated common area with the help of pink streamers, balloons, tablecloths and paper plates. Many teachers also got involved by submitting the name of someone affected by breast cancer to the National Honor Society. Students then decorated the teacher’s door to honor that person.

“We are proud of our students for their display of solidarity and their efforts to support the many people who have been affected by breast cancer,” Superintendent Zinni said. “School-wide events such as this show what great things can be accomplished when a student group takes initiative in supporting a cause that they feel is important.”

Along with painting the school pink, King Philip High School athletic teams host a “pink night” during October to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. At these games, athletes wear pink socks to show their support.
