Fairhaven Police Department Investigating Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Cyclist
FAIRHAVEN — Chief Michael J. Myers reports that the Fairhaven Police Department is investigating after a driver allegedly fled after striking a teenage cyclist this morning.
At 6:45 a.m., Fairhaven Police were dispatched to the area of Adams and Brown Streets for a report of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 14-year-old male was hit by a vehicle traveling south on Adams Street. The driver did not remain at the scene of the crash.
Officers conducted an on-scene investigation and determined that the vehicle was likely an older model, dark colored SUV. The victim was conscious and alert upon the arrival of first responders and was treated on scene by Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics before being transported to Hasbro Hospital in Providence with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Fairhaven Police Department, and anyone who believes they have information about the crash is asked to contact investigators at 508-997-7421. Callers can remain anonymous.
