Groveland Police Association Hosts Successful Harvest Dinner for Seniors in Town

GROVELAND — Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen is pleased to announce that the Groveland Police Association held its largest-ever annual harvest dinner last week.

“We’ve been doing this dinner for over 25 years now, and this was our most successful event yet,” said Lt. Dwight P. McDonald. “We had over 140 seniors in attendance, which is the largest number we’ve ever been able to serve.”

The dinner, which took place Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the cafeteria of the Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School, is held each year in partnership with the Groveland Council on Aging and is open to all senior citizens in town.

This is the third year the Police Association has used the catering services of Chief James DiGianvittorio from the Middleton Police Department, who serves a complete turkey dinner for those in attendance.

“This event is something we all love to do each year, and it’s a way of giving something back,” Lt. McDonald said. “We receive superb support from the community here in town, and we are already looking forward to next year’s dinner.”

The Groveland Police Association wishes to acknowledge Finance Director Denise Dembkoski, who helped with the dinner preparation and serving, Selectman Michael Wood, who helped with the set-up and dinner, seniors Douglas Soper and Edward Reed, who transported most of the tables from Veasey Memorial Park to the Bagnall School, and the Pentucket School District and Bagnall School for letting them use their facility for the event.
