GEORGETOWN — Chief Donald C. Cudmore is pleased to report that an elderly woman who was disoriented and had become lost on Saturday, was safely located, uninjured, after a two hour search.
Yesterday at 4:37 p.m. the Georgetown Police Department responded to a report of a missing elderly female on Nelson Street in the area of Camp Denison. The officers, along with members of the Georgetown Fire Department, conducted an extensive search of the nearby wooded area adjacent to Baldpate Pond.
Due to the dropping temperatures and impending darkness the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit and N.E.M.L.E.C. (North Eastern Law Enforcement Council) were contacted for assistance.
At 6:27 p.m. the elderly female was located in the wooded area off Nelson Street and was transported to the Merrimack Valley Hospital by the Georgetown Fire Department for evaluation.
“I want to thank the duty officers working today and the massive response by N.E.M.L.E.C., the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing Unit and the Boxford Police Department. I want to especially thank Georgetown Police Department Detective Matt Carapellucci who commanded the incident, Officer Dean Julien, and Communications Dispatcher Lisa Dustin for their outstanding performance during a very chaotic situation. These officers and the dispatcher utilized every technology available to them as well as additional assets in order to locate someone in need,” said Georgetown Police Department Chief Donald C. Cudmore.
