Jacques Elementary Hosts Annual Autumn Adventure Day
MILFORD — Principal Tim O’Connell is pleased to announce that students at Jacques Memorial Elementary School took part in the traditional Autumn Adventure Day last week.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, students participated in the day-long event that allowed them to engage in a variety of activities with educational and fall themes. Some students planted tulip bulbs — as is tradition — that will bloom next spring.
There were also several stations dedicated to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as fall-themed relays, scavenger hunts and autumn bingo — which was new this year.
The STEM activity, which was facilitated by first grade teacher Barb Waris, required students to solve a problem and balance five pumpkins on a fence.
Parents also took part in the event by volunteering to help teachers run their stations throughout the day. The day is traditionally held on the Thursday before Milford’s Pumpkin Festival.
“Autumn Adventure Day is a tradition that’s beloved by students, staff and teachers alike, and I was excited to experience my first one,” Principal O’Connell said. “The whole day is a great opportunity for students to engage with one another and have fun while learning.”
