Burlington Police Investigating, Completing Deliveries After Discarded Amazon Packages Found
BURLINGTON – Chief Michael Kent reports that members of the Burlington Police Department have launched an investigation — and taken on the role of package delivery drivers — after a collection of packages were found dumped at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
At approximately 8:49 a.m. Monday, Burlington Police were dispatched to Chestnut Hill Cemetery after numerous mostly-unopened Amazon packages were found discarded in a trash can. All of the packages were addressed to Burlington residents, so officers have also begun completing the deliveries to the intended recipients.
Burlington Police have reached out to Amazon directly as part of their investigation into how the packages ended up at the cemetery.
“While package delivery isn’t really our specialty, we wanted to ensure that the people in our community who were expecting these items received them without too much delay,” Chief Kent said. “If anyone knows how these packages may have ended up in a trash bin instead of their intended destination, they should reach out to us directly.
Anyone with information about this incident may call the Burlington Police Department at 781-272-1212.
