Marion Welcomes New Town Clerk Elizabeth Magauran

MARION — Town Administrator James McGrail is pleased to announce that Marion has appointed Elizabeth Magauran as the new Town Clerk.

As Town Clerk, Magauran will be the official keeper of town records, which include residents’ records of births, deaths and marriages, as well as all town meeting minutes.

The Town Clerk’s office also oversees all town, state and federal elections, administers the oath of office to all elected and appointed town officials and conducts the annual town census.

Prior to becoming Town Clerk, Magauran has held the position of Acting Town Clerk since the beginning of the month. Magauran also held the positions of Assistant Town Clerk and Conservation Commission administrative assistant since 2017. She began working for the town in 2015 as a registrar.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Richmond in Virginia and is working toward achieving her Massachusetts Municipal Clerk Certification. Magauran is an associate member of the Massachusetts Town Clerks’ Association.

“While I am saddened to step down from my role as administrative assistant for the Conservation Commission, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity,” said Magauran. “I will work to provide the best service possible to the town.”

As Town Clerk, Magauran plans to focus on the 2020 election season and organize Marion’s existing town records in order to better serve the community.

“Lissa brings a tremendous amount of experience and know-how to the Town Clerk’s office and has worked for the town going on five years now,” Town Administrator McGrail said. “I am confident that she will continue to serve the town with professionalism and excellence in her new role.”
