Melrose Police Investigating after Armstrong Ambulance Transportation Van is Stolen from MelroseWakefield Hospital

MELROSE — Police Chief Michael Lyle and Armstrong Ambulance CEO Richard Raymond report that an investigation is underway after an Armstrong non-emergency transportation van was stolen from the lot of a local hospital.

An Armstrong Ambulance 2016 Ford Transit Van was Massachusetts Ambulance License plate no. 2744 was reported missing from outside the emergency department of MelroseWakefield Hospital between 6:30 and 6:40 a.m. Thursday. The van had arrived to pick up a patient being discharged when an unknown suspect stole the vehicle.

No patients were on-board the van at the time, and no one was injured in the incident. Armstrong Ambulance officials have confirmed that no medications or medical equipment was on-board the “chair car” van at the time.

The incident is under investigation by the Melrose Police Department. Melrose police is in contact with staff from MelroseWakefield Hospital. Armstrong Ambulance is cooperating fully with the police investigation.
