Lynnfield Center Water District Announces Increased Home Filter Rebate
LYNNFIELD – During its meeting on August 12, 2019, The Lynnfield Center Water District approved changes to its filter rebate program, increasing the amount that residents may be eligible to receive as a reimbursement for purchasing and installing whole domestic water house filters.
Under the revised program, residents will be eligible for up to $400 in total rebates for whole house particulate water filters, with separate rebates up to $200 each for purchase and installation.
While the District remains fully committed to pursuing long term, permanent solutions to occasional discoloration in its system, the rebate program increase is meant to support ratepayers who currently experience discolored water in their homes as a result of iron and manganese buildup. Over the past 12 months, the District has introduced new programs and instituted additional sampling in attempts to both better understand and improve the discoloration issue. These efforts, including the execution of a unidirectional water main flushing program, have reduced discoloration.
“We’ve seen a significant improvement in the appearance of water district-wide since introducing the flushing program, but this filter rebate program is a great way for anyone still experiencing discolored water to address the issue within their own home,” LCWD Board of Water Commissioners Chairman Robert Almy said. “Given the sometimes complex nature of installing a whole home filter, we’re excited to be able to make an additional contribution toward ensuring that residents obtain an effective filter and have it properly installed.”
Interested residents should contact the district and be prepared to provide documentation of their residency in or near an area known to be affected by discoloration, as well as have their accounts paid in full. Customers who have already received a rebate from the District are not eligible under this program.
Residents should also retain documentation of their filter purchase, as well as an invoice for installation by a licensed plumber or contractor.
As always, please continue to contact the District with any quality issues and if you have any other concerns.
