Somerset Police Seeking to Identify Man After Alleged Fraudulent Bank Transaction

SOMERSET — Chief George McNeil reports that the Somerset Police Department is seeking to identify a man who allegedly withdrew funds from an account at St. Anne’s Credit Union without authorization on Thursday, Aug. 15.

At approximately 11:07 a.m., a man entered St. Anne’s Credit Union, located at 215 County St., where he allegedly presented a photo ID in the victim’s name and withdrew $5,000 in cash from a home equity line of credit without authorization.

The unknown male left the bank and walked north across the bank parking lot to an adjacent parking lot where a sedan was waiting. The sedan is described as silver, possibly a Hyundai Sonata or Toyota Camry, with an unknown registration. The sedan left the adjacent lot and drove south on County St. (Route 138).

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Patrolmen Matthew Lima at [email protected] or 508-679-2138.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
