Maynard Police Investigating String of Main Street Vandalism Incidents
MAYNARD — Chief Mark W. Dubois reports that the Maynard Police Department is actively seeking a suspect after five Main Street businesses were vandalized overnight Sunday into Monday, with items reported stolen from one of the locations.
Police responded to a report of vandalism at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 4 Main St. at approximately 4:50 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, police found that several windows had been broken by shots from a BB or pellet gun, and the restaurant had also been broken into. Inside, it appeared to police that the suspect had thrown items around, creating a significant mess.
Police obtained surveillance footage from the McDonald’s, and are seeking a white, bearded male who is believed to be in his 20s or 30s. The suspect was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and white baseball hat in the video.
A pedestrian alerted police during their investigation of the vandalism at McDonald’s that another business, Sugar Snap at 53 A Main St., had also been vandalized. Upon arrival, police found that several windows of that business had also been broken by shots from a BB or pellet gun.
Police on foot patrol also found that Oliver’s Wands and Wizarding Wares at 60 Main St. had been broken into and a quantity of goods had been stolen.
Finally, officers found that Berkshire Hathaway Home Services at 58 Main St. and Main Street Liquors at 48 Main St. had been vandalized, and windows appeared to have been shot at by a BB or pellet gun at both businesses.
Maynard Police searched on foot for the suspect Monday morning, but have not yet located the suspect.
Maynard Police are actively investigating these crimes and are receiving support from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
