King Philip Regional School District Hires New Assistant Principals for High School, Middle School
NORFOLK — Superintendent Paul Zinni is pleased to announce that Meaghan Sullivan has been hired as the new King Philip Regional High School Assistant Principal and Kyle Alves was hired as the new King Philip Regional Middle School Assistant Principal.
For the last eight years, Sullivan worked at Framingham High School as a math teacher and was named the interim vice principal for the second half of last year. She also served as the curriculum coordinator for Algebra 1 and Calculus for several years.
As the interim vice principal, Sullivan oversaw the freshmen class of 600 students and completed other administrative responsibilities.
While at Framingham High School, Sullivan served as a member of the school council, mentored several new teachers, co-chaired a committee for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and supervised a full practicum student-teacher.
Sullivan also created and implemented a student-athlete support program. The program was designed to help student-athletes meet eligibility requirements to remain eligible through all seasons. As the director of the program, Sullivan served as a liaison between the student and their parents, teachers, coaches and the school guidance counselors to assist the student in completing their work and managing their time.
“I look forward to getting to know the students and staff at King Philip Regional High School and am excited to get into the classrooms to see all of the great work that is being done,” Sullivan said. “I plan to bring my passion for teaching and my desire to help students advance and achieve to my new administrative role.”
Sullivan is a native of Medfield and attended Saint Anselm College where she received her bachelor’s degree in math and secondary education. She also holds a Master of Education with a concentration in math from Framingham State University, and a post-master’s certificate in educational leadership from the University of New England.
Alves began his career as an English teacher for eight years at Somerset High School. He has spent the past 13 years in various administrative roles, including assistant principal at Somerset High School and dean of students and principal at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. Most recently, Alves was the assistant principal at Pierce Middle School in Milton.
“I was attracted to King Philip Middle School because of its student-centered leadership team and faculty,” Alves said. “I am looking forward to serving as the assistant principal because it allows me to directly impact the social, emotional and academic growth of the students. My focus is to ensure a high achieving, safe and inclusive school community.”
Alves received a Bachelor of Art degree in English and his educator license from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He also holds a Master of Education degree in educational leadership from Bridgewater State University.
Alves, his wife, their three boys and their dachshund, Max, reside in New Bedford. He enjoys golfing and spending time with family in his free time. He is also a proud Patriots and Red Sox fan.
“We are excited to welcome Meaghan and Kyle to our district leadership team,” Superintendent Zinni said. “They both have valuable backgrounds in teaching and administrative leadership and I look forward to seeing how their experience will positively impact our King Philip community.”
