Anonymous Donor Gives New Bike, School Supplies to 5-Year-Old Holbrook Boy Found Last Week
HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith is pleased to announce that thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous donor, a Holbrook boy has a brand-new bicycle, backpack and school supplies.
Last week, on Aug. 8, Holbrook Police were notified about a 5-year-old boy, later identified as Miguel Carvalho, who was found riding his bicycle in the area of Plymouth Street by himself. Carvalho’s bicycle had two flat tires and was missing a training wheel.
While searching for a parent or guardian of Carvalho, Holbrook Police posted the boy’s photo on Facebook.
Through the subsequent investigation, a short time later police were able to identify a family member of Carvalho’s and returned him safely to his family.
As a result of the department’s Facebook post, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, an anonymous donor donated a brand-new bicycle and other items meant for Carvalho.
On Tuesday night, Holbrook Police Officer James Landers went to Carvalho’s house to drop off the new bike and school supplies to him.
“First and foremost we are glad that Miguel was found safe and that we were able to quickly reunite him with his family last week,” Chief Smith said. “I would like to personally thank the person who made this generous donation. Seeing the smile on his face was priceless and it was truly a kind gesture.”
