Blackstone Police Investigating After Cat Killed by Arrow
BLACKSTONE — Acting Chief Gregory Gilmore reports that the Blackstone Police Department is actively investigating an incident where a cat died after being shot by an arrow Thursday night, Aug. 1.
At approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, the Blackstone Police Department received a call regarding a pet cat that had been shot with an arrow on Old Mendon Street.
The owners of the cat took it to a local animal hospital. The cat was subsequently transported to Tufts Animal Hospital in Grafton where it was unable to be saved and needed to be euthanized due to its injuries.
The Blackstone Animal Control Officer and a Blackstone Police detective immediately launched an investigation into the incident. As of Friday morning, it is unknown who shot the cat and police are working to identify the person responsible.
The arrow that struck the cat was short and was possibly fired from a crossbow.
Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area last night or has information about this incident is asked to call Blackstone Police at 508-883-1212.
