Marion Police to Participate in Tri-Town National Night Out on Aug. 6

MARION — Chief John Garcia is pleased to announce that the Marion Police Department will participate in the 7th annual Tri-Town National Night Out with Mattapoisett and Rochester first responders and invites residents to attend.

WHEN:

Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5-8 p.m.

WHERE:

Old Rochester Regional High School, 135 Marion Road, Mattapoisett

WHAT:

Held on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between police and fire officials and residents in order to foster partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods.

The Tri-Town National Night Out event is family-friendly and free to attend.

First responders from the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester police and fire departments will be present. The Marion Harbormaster will also be part of the event. Each department will bring a variety of vehicles for the public to see and tour.

Representatives from the Marion Board of Health and Marion Recreation Department will also be in attendance and will have products to give away. The recreation department will also have games set up for kids at the event.

Food and beverages will be provided while supplies last.

Last year, about 200 people attended the event.

“This is a great opportunity for the community and our first responders to get to know each other and ask any questions they have about the various local departments and the work we do,” Chief Garcia said. “Our hope is that positive interactions between community members and first responders at events like this help to make the community stronger, and we encourage residents from all three communities to attend.”

Additional event details can be found on the Marion Police Facebook event page.
