Shrewsbury Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire
SHREWSBURY — Chief James Vuona reports that the Shrewsbury Fire Department extinguished a house fire on Rawson Hill Drive Monday afternoon.
There were no injuries and the family was able to make it out of the house safely prior to the arrival of firefighters.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 15, the Shrewsbury Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a single-family house at 33 Rawson Hill Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters came upon heavy smoke and fire coming from the home.
Mutual aid was called for and firefighters from the Northborough and Westborough fire departments came to the scene to assist. The Boylston Fire Department also responded to provide station coverage.
The fire, which began in the kitchen and spread to other parts of the home, was quickly extinguished.
The family was displaced due to significant fire, smoke and water damage throughout the house. Incident Commander Captain Aaron Roy estimated the damage to be in excess of $100,000.
Deputy Chief Seth Colby and the Fire District 14 Fire Investigation Team determined that the cause of the fire was undetermined and unintentional.
Chief Vuona would like to thank the assisting fire departments and the Worcester Box 4 Rehab Truck for coming to the scene to assist with heat and hydration management due to the hot weather.
