At 9:23 a.m., Pepperell Police responded to River Road (Route 111), near the intersection of South Road (Route 119) on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, police learned that a  21-year-old man from Hollis, New Hampshire was traveling north on River Road when he crashed his 2016 Chevrolet Silverado into a utility pole, causing it to snap and fall to the ground.

The man declined medical attention. His vehicle, which sustained heavy front end damage, was towed from the scene.

National Grid responded to repair the pole. During work, the northbound lane of River Road was closed.

A short time later, at 9:51 a.m., police responded to Shirley Street, between Route 119 and the Groton line, on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, police discovered a 2014 Dodge 1500 on its roof. The driver, a 40-year-old man from Leominster, was transported via ambulance with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

An on-scene investigation indicates that the driver was traveling north on Shirley Street when he veered off the road and struck a utility pole, causing his vehicle to spin and then flip over.

The Dodge sustained serious damage and was towed from the scene.

National Grid responded to fix the pole, which snapped on impact. A transformer was also damaged in the crash, causing power outages to the area. Both lanes of Shirley Street were closed during repairs.

The causes of both crashes remain under investigation by the Pepperell Police Department.
