Limited Tickets Still Available for Fundraising Event for Somerset Police Sgt. Adam DaRosa
Proceeds to Benefit the Family of Sgt. DaRosa
SOMERSET — Chief George McNeil announces that there are a limited number of tickets still available for those who would like to attend a fundraiser event tomorrow night to help benefit the family Somerset Police Sgt. Adam DaRosa, who recently found out he was cancer free.
WHEN:
Thursday, June 20, from 6-10 p.m.
WHERE:
Venus de Milo, 75 Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Highway (Route 6), Swansea
WHO:
The Somerset Police Department is hosting a fundraising event to benefit Sgt. Adam DaRosa, who was recently declared to be cancer free and will be returning to full-time duty in the coming months. The funds raised at the event will help to offset his family’s living expenses while he was unable to work.
WHAT:
There are currently about 15 tickets left to attend the event. So far, approximately 250 tickets have been sold.
Tickets are $20 apiece and must be picked up at the Somerset Police station, 465 County St., prior to the event. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets can be purchased with cash or a check made payable to “DaRosa Family Fundraiser.” Those who are unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation can do so by visiting the police station.
The event is open to families and people of all ages. There will be a cornhole tournament, a DJ, live music, a cash bar and food and refreshments will be served.
There will also be prizes for the winners of the cornhole tournament and about 30 raffle prizes that were donated by local businesses.
Some of the raffle prizes include a weekend getaway to New Hampshire, a golf outing to one of four local golf courses, Celtics tickets, Red Sox tickets and several gift baskets with various items.
Sgt. DaRosa is a 15-year veteran of the Somerset Police Department. He found out late last month that he was cancer free after battling stage 3 testicular cancer. Last week, on Wednesday, June 12, DaRosa was promoted to the rank of sergeant by the Somerset Board of Selectmen, following Chief McNeil’s recommendation.
“We have been amazed at the outpouring of support by the Somerset community and beyond for the DaRosa family,” Chief McNeil said. “Sgt. DaRosa truly exemplifies what it means to be a member of the Somerset Police Department and we hope that Thursday’s event will be a fun night of celebration for him and his family.”
