Newbury Fire Department Responds to Car Crash into Utility Pole

Power to Plum Island Cut Off While Pole is Repaired

NEWBURY — Chief Douglas Janvrin reports that the Newbury Fire Department responded to a car crash into a pole Tuesday morning.

At 9:05 a.m., Newbury firefighters responded to a report of a car that had crashed into a utility pole on the Plum Island Turnpike in the area of Plum Bush Downs. Upon arrival, firefighters found the car had rolled over and the pole had snapped in half.

Two people were in the car at the time of the crash, and both were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Power was cut off Tuesday morning to Plum Island while the pole was repaired. Power had not yet been restored by 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Traffic was temporarily limited to one lane on the Plum Island Turnpike in the area of the crash while firefighters responded to the crash.

The Newbury Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
