Saugus Police Arrest Woman Following Armed Robbery
SAUGUS — Interim Chief Ronald Giorgetti reports the Saugus Police Department has a woman in custody following an armed robbery earlier today.
SIARA FONSECA, AGE 32, OF LYNN was arrested and charged with:
- Armed Robbery
- Assault and Battery
- Assault With a Dangerous Weapon
At 1:59 p.m., Saugus Police were dispatched to the area of 20 Houston Ave. for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, responding officers learned that a female, later identified through the investigation as FONSECA, had approached the victim with a knife and stole his cell phone.
Saugus Police relayed identifying information about FONSECA to area law enforcement agencies, and she was subsequently stopped by Lynn and Massachusetts State Police at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets in Lynn. Saugus Police responded to that location and took her into custody without incident.
“I want to commend our patrol division members for their quick work investigating this incident and apprehending the suspect,” Chief Giorgetti said. “This would not have been possible without the coordination and collaboration with our partners in Lynn and with the State Police.”
FONSECA is being held without bail pending arraignment.
