Kearsarge Community Members Invited to School Funding 101 Workshop
KEARSARGE – Superintendent Winfried Feneberg and the Kearsarge Regional School Board are pleased to invite members of the Kearsarge and surrounding communities to an upcoming event that will explore the issue of school funding in New Hampshire.
WHEN:
Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m.
WHERE:
Kearsarge Regional Middle School, 32 Gile Pond Road, North Sutton
WHO:
Attorneys John Tobin and Andru Volinsky
WHAT:
John Tobin and Andru Volinsky are attorneys who have advocated for structural changes to the way schools are funded in New Hampshire, and will speak directly to community members about the complex history and structure of the state’s school funding model.
The pair will outline the current structure, which is highly reliant on individual school district property taxes, and break down the constitutional requirement that the state fund public education. They’ll also explore their personal history with this issue, including successfully representing the Claremont School District at the state’s high court.
During their presentation, Volinsky and Tobin will share some of their ideas for reforming education funding throughout New Hampshire.
