Chelmsford Police Department Responds to Head-On Collision
CHELMSFORD – Chief James Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded to a head-on crash involving a sedan and a dump truck earlier today.
At 12:45 p.m., Chelmsford Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of 77 Littleton Road (Route 110) for a report of a head-on collision. Upon arrival, first responders located a 2019 Toyota Corolla that had crashed into the front end of an oncoming dump truck.
The 28-year-old Fitchburg woman who had been driving the Corolla suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening as a result of the crash. She was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital and was conscious and alert prior to departing the crash scene.
The 45-year-old Nashua man driving the dump truck was not injured in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Chelmsford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
Littleton Road remains closed in the area of the crash due to the ongoing investigation, and traffic is expected to be detoured around the area for several hours.
