Whitman Police Arrest Elementary School Teacher Following Investigation
WHITMAN — Chief Scott D. Benton reports that the Whitman Police Department has arrested and charged a teacher following an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct between the teacher and a student.
MATTHEW DiMUCCIO, AGE 32, of WELLESLEY was charged with two counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14. He was arrested at his home Monday afternoon and taken to the Whitman Police station to be booked.
DiMUCCIO is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Brockton District Court.
DiMUCCIO, a music teacher at Duval Elementary School, was immediately placed on administrative leave by school district officials on May 15 after a Whitman Police School Resource Officer was notified of alleged inappropriate contact between him and a student.
An investigation was launched and it was subsequently determined that there was probable cause to arrest DiMUCCIO.
Because the victim in this case is a minor, further details about the allegations will not be released.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with further information, questions, or concerns is asked to call the Whitman Police Department at 781-447-1212.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
