King Philip Varsity Soccer Player Avery Snead Named Allstate All-American
WRENTHAM — Principal Lisa Mobley and Athletic Director Gary Brown are pleased to announce that King Philip Regional High School junior Avery Snead was named as one of the top 125 junior girls high school soccer players in the country by Allstate.
Snead, who plays midfield on the KP varsity soccer team, was selected to be an Allstate All-American, a new program that selects the top 125 boy and girl soccer players in the country, who are in their junior year. Snead was nominated by local sports reporters who were asked to select standout athletes in their area.
“Avery is a wonderful student-athlete who truly exemplifies the KP Warrior spirit on and off the field,” Principal Mobley said. “To be named an All-American by any organization is a great honor and we congratulate Avery on her selection.”
Snead is one of only three other girls from Massachusetts who were named All-Americans.
In addition to being recognized as an All-American, Snead has an opportunity to be selected as one of 40 girls players who will play in the inaugural Allstate All-America Cup in Orlando, Florida on July 31.
A committee will be selecting 40 boys and 40 girls to make up four teams. Two boys teams will face each other in one game and two girls teams will square off as part of the event.
The teams will be coached by renowned former professional soccer players Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy, Brian McBride and Taylor Twellman. Both the boys and girls All-America Cup games will air live on ESPNU and be streamed online.
“Congratulations to Avery for her selection and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she gets chosen to participate in the All-America Cup game in Florida,” Athletic Director Brown said.
