Town of Wrentham Holds Annual Memorial Day Parade

WRENTHAM — Town Administrator Kevin Sweet is pleased to share that the Town of Wrentham held its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday.

Hundreds of locals attended the parade, which began at 10:30 a.m. on Randall Road on Monday, May 27. The parade proceeded down South Street to the Center Cemetery, where an assembly was held at the flag pole near the veterans burial area.

Veteran’s Agent Mike Hennessy gave a welcome address at the assembly, followed by an opening prayer by Father Joe Mozer of St. Mary’s Parish and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance by local boy scouts.

Hennessy also recognized local veterans during the assembly.

Selectman Chair Joe Botaish and State Rep. Shawn Dooley also gave remarks at the ceremony. The assembly also included a laying of a wreath by local boy scouts; Victoria McComb of Norton sang the National Anthem; Christine Zinnack of Attleboro sang “America the Beautiful;” Ryan McGill, 13, of Wrentham gave a reading of the poem, “Freedom isn’t Free;” the King Philip Marching band performed Taps; acknowledgements from Grand Marshal Richard Bergman; and a closing prayer from Pastor Elaine Gaetani of the Original Congregational Church of Wrentham.

“The Memorial Day Parade is an annual tradition that honors our veterans and those who have given their lives while serving our country,” Town Administrator Sweet said. “It was a beautiful day for the town of Wrentham to come together and recognize our military members.”

After the assembly, the parade procession marched toward the town’s war memorial monuments.
