Hull Public Schools to Begin Construction on Community Walking Track and Turf Field

Robert Lloyd Corkin Charitable Foundation Donates $8,500 to Project

HULL — Superintendent Michael Devine is pleased to announce that construction on the Hull Community Walking Track and Turf will begin next week.

Crews will start work on Monday, June 3, and will continue through Sept. 3.

The approximately $2.8 million track and turf field will allow Hull Public Schools to better provide and maintain space for more than 2,000 children who use the area for sports and physical education classes.

During construction, the Hull High School parking lot will be closed to the public. There may also be times when street parking spaces may not be available, as they will be used to allow construction vehicles and equipment access onto the field.

To help provide relief for those who use the lot, Hull Public Schools has expanded the parking lot behind the high school for staff and student parking for the remainder of the school year and for commuters during the summer months. Two commuter spots will be used as the entrance to the construction zone, one of which is a handicapped spot and will be moved across the road with proper signage.

Hull Public Schools would also like to thank the Robert Lloyd Corkin Charitable Foundation, which donated $8,500 to the project.

“The construction of the new track and turf field has been several years in the making and we’re excited to break ground this summer so that we can improve services to children throughout the district,” Superintendent Devine said. “I want to extend a sincere thank you to the Robert Lloyd Corkin Charitable Foundation for their generous donation.”

As the project moves forward, the school department is actively fundraising and seeking out grant and sponsorship opportunities. Anyone interested in sponsorship options can email the Hull High School Boosters Club at [email protected]
