Exeter High School Students Place in National Spanish Exams
EXETER — Superintendent David Ryan is pleased to announce that several Exeter High School students placed in the 2019 National Spanish Examinations.
Students from Exeter High School took the exam in Levels 2, 3, and 4, and earned a total of four gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals, along with 38 honorable mentions.
Spanish teachers Kathy Bean, Jennifer Delorie, Kate LaPia and Nicole Vernon helped students prepare for the exams.
“Students from Exeter High School have a long history of high achievement on these exams, which speaks not only to our program at EHS, but also to the students’ interest level and dedication to learning the language,” Delorie said. “Becoming proficient in a foreign language is no easy task — it takes perseverance and hard work, so those who have accomplished this have achieved an extremely marketable skill.”
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades six through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. This year, more than 146,000 students nationwide took one of the Spanish exams.
