Raymond School District Investigating Threat
RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy reports that the Raymond School District, working with the Raymond Police Department, is investigating after a student allegedly made a threat to harm others during an after school program.
This morning, the administration learned that a second grade boy enrolled in the Learning Enrichment After School Program — a grant-funded program at the Lamprey River Elementary School — had drawn a map of the school and made threats to do harm this week.
LRES Assistant Principal Dorothy Franchini, who was serving as acting principal today, immediately reported the incident to School Resource Officer Sue Frotton and the Raymond Police Department launched an investigation. School officials conducted a search of the elementary school in accordance with the district’s Emergency Operations Plan, and no weapons or firearms were found.
Classes were not disrupted, and police and school officials do not believe that there is any danger to the school community. The student has been removed from the classroom as officials investigate.
“We take all issues surrounding school safety extremely seriously and I want to commend LEAP Director Patrick Arsenault and LRES Assistant Principal Dorothy Franchini for their work on this situation today,” Superintendent McCoy said. “I want to take this opportunity to remind students, faculty and staff that if they see something suspicious to always report it to a trusted adult or supervisor immediately.”
