Wenham Police Arrest Man for Home Invasion

WENHAM — Chief Thomas Perkins reports that the Wenham Police Department arrested a man last night after he allegedly entered a home in town and assaulted a man while inside.

EDWARD ERBACHER, AGE 61, OF BEVERLY is charged with Home Invasion and Armed Assault in a Dwelling.

On Thursday, April 18 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Wenham Police received a 911 call reporting that a man had entered his home on Maple Street and was armed with a knife.

Upon arrival, police learned that the man, identified as ERBACHER, had entered the home, removed a knife from the kitchen and threatened the two occupants.

ERBACHER allegedly assaulted one of the resident’s before fleeing the home, heading toward Danvers in a dark colored hard top Jeep.

ERBACHER was known to the residents. Wenham Police immediately contacted Danvers Police, who located ERBACHER on Route 128 and placed him under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

He was then transported to the Wenham Police Department, where he was booked and held on $10,000 bail pending his arraignment at Newburyport District Court.
