Friends of the Rochester Library Hosting Dessert Competition
ROCHESTER — Library Director Brian Sylvester and Friends of the Rochester Library President Barb Graham are pleased to announce that the Friends will host their third annual Sweet Art fundraiser next month.
Non-professional bakers are invited to apply to participate in the dessert creation competition, which will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 1-3:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. All entrants should plan to make enough samples of their signature item to satisfy 100 tasters.
The winner will receive a Sweet Art apron, a place of honor on the Sweet Art plaque that is displayed year-round in the library and bragging rights as Rochester’s best dessert chef. Tickets to attend cost $5. Tickets and entry forms can be obtained at the library.
“Sweet Art has become one of our favorite traditions,” Sylvester said. “I hope everyone will save room for dessert next month and come support this great event, which would not be possible without the continued support of the Friends of the Rochester Library.”
The event will also feature a silent auction for themed baskets containing a variety of items, including ones from Rochester businesses.
