Rochester Library Invites Residents to Take Part in Worldwide Virtual Book Club
ROCHESTER — Library Director Brian Sylvester invites members of the community to join with their neighbors and others throughout New Hampshire and the rest of the world during this ongoing Big Library Read.
The Big Library Read is a virtual book club, which allows library patrons to borrow a book online on Overdrive, then take part in an online discussion. The book is available to borrow and read from now through April 15. The featured book is “Homes: A Refugee Story” by Abu Bakr Al-Rabeeah.
The online discussion board, which can be found at discuss.biglibraryread.com, will remain active until April 29. The discussion board is an open forum for participants to share their thoughts and honest opinions about the book, as well as an opportunity to join in on conversations already in progress.
“This is a unique opportunity to read alongside people from all ages and backgrounds from places near and far,” Director Sylvester said. “The online discussion is a chance to participate in an engaging conversation about what you’re reading and really expand beyond the limitations of the traditional book club.”
The discussion is monitored by Overdrive to ensure it remains respectful and appropriate. Readers will also have occasional opportunities to interact directly with the author, who could drop in at any time to contribute to the discussion and answer readers’ questions.
