Ipswich Police Participate in Foster Care Backpack Drive
IPSWICH — Chief Paul Nikas is pleased to announce that the Ipswich Police Department is participating in a backpack drive to benefit a local charity serving children entering foster care.
The drive supports Fostering Care Inc., a local nonprofit that works to help children entering foster care by providing basic necessities and personal care items.
Throughout the month of April, Ipswich Police will be contributing to Fostering Care’s backpack drive, and encourages residents to donate fully stuffed backpacks (with items ranging from clothes to toiletries, and a stuffed animal to a toy/project) to help a child in need.
Those who wish to participate in the drive can do so by dropping off backpacks, or any items on the wish list (see above), to the Ipswich Police Department, 15 Elm St. Residents can also donate money or Amazon gift cards, or contribute to the Amazon wish list. (Email alexis.macintyre@kw.com on where to send monetary and gift card donations).
Along with the police department, donations can also be dropped off at:
- Ipswich Fire Department, 55 Central St.
- The Brown Dog, 14 Central St.
- Keller Williams, 500 Cummings Center, Beverly
- Small Wonders Child Development Center, 391 Linebrook Road
- Paul F. Doyon Memorial School, 216 Linebrook Road
The drive will culminate with a backpack stuffing event on April 28, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Lawrence Hall, 14 Fairview Ave.
“We’re happy to partner with Fostering Care on this extremely worthy endeavor,” Chief Nikas said. “We encourage all who can to participate in this drive to help children entering foster care feel a little more at home right away.”
