A Statement from King Philip Regional School District Superintendent Paul Zinni
“I would like to let parents know that we are aware of a Snapchat video that has been circulating today depicting an unknown person holding a rifle in a room where other rifles and gun cases are lying on the floor.
The video did not appear to be directed toward any of the schools and there is no reason to believe there is an active threat at this time.
Throughout the day, several students have come forward to report this video to a trusted adult at the high school and I would like to commend them for reporting it. An announcement was given by school officials at the high school today letting students and staff know that they are aware of the video and there was no cause for alarm.
The Wrentham Police Department is actively seeking to identify and speak with the person who posted the video and has released multiple statements on its Facebook page, including a post seeking the public’s help in identifying furniture that can be seen in the video.
Wrentham Police have indicated that the posting of the video in and of itself is not a crime. We are thankful to the Wrentham Police Department and Chief McGrath for their diligence in investigating this matter and will assist them in any way we can.”
