CMS Renewal Committee to Present on Building Project in Kensington

KENSINGTON — The Cooperative Middle School Renewal Committee invites residents to attend an informational presentation on the proposed building project this week in Kensington.

WHEN:

TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Kensington Elementary School, 122 Amesbury Road, Kensington. The meeting will take place in the library.

WHAT:

On March 12, voters will be asked to consider a $17.8 million project to improve services for students, faculty and staff at CMS. All six towns that make up CMS — Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, Newfields and Stratham must collectively pass the ballot item with at least 60 percent voting in favor for the initiative to move forward.

The project includes adding classrooms, installing another elevator closer to the entrance of the building, creating a multipurpose room for arts and alternative physical education, re-configuring the cafeteria so that lunches no longer need to begin at 10 a.m., and creating office space for teachers and staff who are currently relegated to storage closets.

CMS Principal Patty Wons and Assistant Principal Bill Perkins will present on the overall scope of the work, budget impact and how the project will benefit CMS. Kensington CMS Renewal Committee member Adam Wiggin will also be available to address concerns and answer questions from the public regarding the project.
