Fairhaven Police Department Welcomes Newest Officer

FAIRHAVEN — Chief Michael Myers is pleased to announce that Fairhaven’s newest police officer graduated from the police academy last week and has joined the department as a sworn officer this week.

Officer Christopher Beauregard graduated after 24 weeks of training at the Plymouth Police Academy’s 66th Recruit Officer Class. He was recognized at a ceremony in Plymouth on Friday, Feb. 22.

The recruit program consisted of training in the fields of physical fitness, defensive tactics, driving, firearms and practical exercises, along with classroom lectures in constitutional law, criminal law, motor vehicle law, and other fields of study.

Officer Beauregard, a lifelong Fairhaven resident, was sworn in by Acting Town Clerk Carolyn Hurley at Town Hall on Monday. He began his advanced field training today.

Officer Beauregard is a 2007 graduate of Fairhaven High School and in 2011 he earned his Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice at Bristol Community College.

In 2013, Officer Beauregard enlisted full-time, active duty in the United States Army and completed basic training and military police training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was then stationed at Fort Drum, New York attached to the 543rd Military Police Company.

During his military service, Officer Beauregard completed a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan, where he conducted customs service duties as a military police officer. He later returned to Fort Drum, where he remained until being deployed to South Korea. He completed a one-year deployment in South Korea working for the Criminal Investigations Division.

Upon returning home from his service, he was hired by the Fairhaven Police Department in September 2018. He entered the police academy on Sept. 10 and graduated last Friday.

A badge pinning ceremony will be held at this week’s Board of Selectmen meeting.

“On behalf of the entire Fairhaven Police Department, I am happy to welcome Officer Beauregard among our ranks and wish him the best for a lengthy, safe and successful career serving his hometown,” Chief Myers said.
