Maynard DPW Announces Partial Powder Mill Road Closure for Sewer Work

MAYNARD — Public Works Director Aaron Miklosko reports that ongoing sewer improvement work will begin on Powder Mill Road/Route 62 beginning later this month, resulting in a complete closure of a portion of the roadway.

As part of the next phase of the 129 Parker St. Downstream Sewer Project, the Department of Public Works will be removing and replacing large sections of the water and sewer main located underneath Powder Mill Road. Due to the location of the pipe — directly below the center line — both lanes of traffic will be closed during active construction.

Powder Mill Road between Waltham Street and the Maynard Elks Lodge will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, beginning on Monday, Jan. 28. Residents and business owners will be able to access their properties, but all other traffic will be detoured around the area.

The construction on Powder Mill Road is expected to take seven weeks to complete, as weather permits.

The Maynard Police Department will post detour signs and informational message boards to ease the flow of traffic around the affected area.

“We apologize in advance for the inconvenience, and want to thank the community for their patience as our crews complete this important work,” Miklosko said. “We will do our best to complete this work as efficiently as possible in order to minimize the disruption to residents and businesses.”
