Rochester Police Investigating Apparent Act of Domestic Violence
ROCHESTER — Police Chief Paul Toussaint reports that the Rochester Police Department is investigating an apparent act of domestic violence that has resulted in a fatality.
There is no danger to the community, and this does not appear to be a random act. No suspects are at large at this time.
Rochester Police received a 911 call at 6:39 a.m. Tuesday from a resident of Sunrise Drive. The caller indicated that she had been shot by her husband and that her husband had shot and killed himself.
Rochester Police and Fire and paramedics arrived at the home within minutes. There, they found a 45-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man.
The female was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
The male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rochester Police are investigating the incident as an alleged attempted murder suicide, but the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
This is an ongoing and active investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
