Littleton Police Advisory: Truck Exclusion on Taylor Street will be Strictly Enforced
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew J. Pinard and the Littleton Police Department wish to remind motorists that trucks are not allowed to travel on a large section of Taylor Street. This traffic exclusion will be strictly enforced moving forward, with Littleton Police officers posted on traffic details in the area in response to resident complaints.
Trucks are not allowed to travel on the northern section of Taylor Street from Porter Road to the Littleton B&M Depot.
The truck exclusion covers trucks that are 2 1/2 tons or more (5,000 lbs.) whether the trucks have commercial plates or not.
The following vehicles ARE allowed:
- Ford, GM, Ram and similar 3500 pickups
- 3500 (one ton) pickup trucks with dual wheels on the rear axle.
- One-ton/3500 pickups with dump beds
- Motor coaches (buses)
- Trucks with legitimate business in the exclusion zone/no thru traffic
The Littleton Highway Department has erected new signs just west of Porter Rd and at the Depot intersection to warn motorists. Those who fail to abide by the exclusion will be issued citations under Mass. Gen. Laws Chapter 90, § Section 18 Restricted Way or Truck Exclusion and will be issued a $55 fine for a civil infraction.
