Chelmsford Police Investigating after Pedestrian is Struck by Vehicle

CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle early this evening.

Chelmsford Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Boston and Brian roads at 5:15 p.m. Upon arrival, rescuers found a 70-year-old man from Chelmsford lying in the roadway. The victim was treated at the scene and taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. The victim was reported to be conscious when he was being treated at the scene.

The driver, a 64-year-old Chelmsford man operating a 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck.

The incident is under investigation by the Chelmsford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Division.
