North Reading Police Arrest Man After Credit Card Skimming Device Found in his Vehicle
Man Remains Under Investigation for Reported Assault With a Dangerous Weapon
NORTH READING — Chief Michael P. Murphy reports that the North Reading Police Department arrested a man today on multiple charges and is continuing to investigate his possible connection to an assault last night on I-93.
NICHOLAS JEWETT, AGE 27, OF WOBURN was arrested and charged with:
- Operating With a Suspended License
- Possession of a Credit Card Reader (Skimming Device)
North Reading Police stopped JEWETT earlier today on Rt. 28 for a traffic offense. In doing so, officers determined that JEWETT’S vehicle registration had been queried dozens of times last night by multiple law enforcement agencies. The queries of his registration were in connection with his vehicle’s alleged involvement in an assault with a BB gun on I-93 in Woburn last night.
Officers conducting an on-scene investigation during the traffic stop located a silver and black BB gun, dozens of credit cards, a credit card reader and fraudulent driver’s licenses in JEWETT’S vehicle.
JEWETT is due to be arraigned in connection with the suspended license and credit card reader charges at 2:30 p.m. in Woburn District Court.
The BB gun assaults remain under investigation, and additional charges could be forthcoming following the conclusion of that investigation.
